Administrator Guide
The pages in the Administration section of the iGrafx platform allow users with administrator privileges to add and modify users, assign security roles, change server settings, view performance logs and clear the system cache, customize the app's appearance, and add and register repositories.

Assigning Security Roles
Security roles in the iGrafx Platform provide a way to manage permissions over servers, repositories, and repository objects (items) by users and groups of users. There are three types of security roles:
Change database connection without browser access

Changing Server Settings
Server settings include general server configurations settings and database settings, which are described in the following sections.
Clearing System Cache
The iGrafx Origins Platform caches many things in order to improve performance and decrease load on the database server. If you see something that appears to be out-of-date with its current state, you can try clearing the cache to see if that solves the problem. Note that if clearing the cache does resolve the issue, then it signifies a bug in the iGrafx Origins Platform, and a bug report should be filed using the iGrafx Service Desk; manually clearing the cache should not be required.
Configure central logging with Nagioslog
If you host multiple iGrafx Platform Application Servers it may be helpful to use a federated logging system to have all nodes log into a consolidated view. While there are countless ways to approach this the following notes could be helpful for you if you happen to use Nagios Log Server or a similar tool. We can't provide a full set of instructions or support around the configuration of such a system.
Control and Control Instance configuration
The Control settings can be changed in the repository configuration and requires the user to have the Manage Control Configuration permission.
Developer Tools
The iGrafx platform provides a couple of developer tools for logging server performance and clearing the system cache. These are described in the following sections.
Enable Performance Risk and Control (PRC) Administration
To configure repository risk settings go to Configuration > Risks.
Import users and groups from Active Directory (LDAP)
The main functionality of the AD import in iGrafx Origins is the correct setting and filtering of attributes. These attributes compose the hierarchy of the AD and are arranged differently in every AD.
Linking Users to Labor Resources
The iGrafx Platform allows you to link users to repository labor resources that represent them, or to create a new resource specifically to link to a user. The iGrafx Platform also provides a user-to-resource linking automation feature that is designed to speed up the task of matching iGrafx Platform users with any labor resource that represents them. See Linking Users to Resources Automatically for information about this feature.
Managing Repositories
The Manage Repositories page lets you manage repositories in several ways. You can
Managing Users and Groups
In the User Management pages, you can add and edit users, create groups and manage the users within them, and import and sync users from existing database user directories. The following sections describe these tasks and the pages that enable them.
Migrating repositories
If you attempt to register a repository, a migration wizard prompts you through user/role/rights mapping decisions that are required.

Register repository to another platform instance or clone an existing repository
This article will help you to register a repository which was used in another iGrafx platform environment. If you try to do so without following the steps below you will see an error message like:
Restoring Administrator access to the iGrafx Platform
Your only iGrafx Platform Administrator left the company or is on a hiking trip in Patagonia? There are several legitimate reasons to restore administrative access to the iGrafx Platform.
Risk and Risk Instance configuration
To access the Repository Configuration area, Risks page you must be assigned a Repository Role granting Manage Risk Configuration permission. See Assigning Security Roles for more information.

Update Diagram Cache
When iGrafx Desktop client documents are added to a repository, or updated versions are subsequently checked in, an XML representation of each contained diagram is created and used by the iGrafx Platform to display them in a Web browser client.
